Terry Pheto Nominated Alongside US Stars For Her Role In “Mandiba” (BET)
Renowned actress Terry Pheto has received lots of international recognition and awards that keep coming from different angles. Terry has made it known in a Twitter post that she has been nominated for a Black Reel Award for her role as Winnie Mandela in the BET drama “Madiba” in which she stars alongside Laurence Fishburne:
To recognize excellence in African-American, as well as Africans around the world who have made a statement in the film industry, the ceremony is hosted by the Foundation for the Augmentation of African-Americans in Film. With this being Terry’s first Black Reel Award nomination, she will have to contend with American big shots in the industry including Sanaa Lathan, Loretta Devine, Oprah Winfrey and Nia Long in the Outstanding Actress, TV Movie/Limited series category.
According to her, Terry Pheto taking the lead role of Winnie Mandela in the BET’s drama is a dream come true.
The drama, which based on two Mandela autobiographies – “Conversations With Myself” and “Nelson Mandela by Himself”, details the early years of Nelson Mandela’s journey and reportedly pays homage to many great men and women who gave contributions in the quest for freedom in South Africa but are lesser-known.
