#AMAA2017: Senegalese Film Tops Winners’ List (See Full List)

Senegalese film, “Felicitè”, has scooped six awards at the 13th African Movie Academy Awards Winners’ list, making it the biggest winner at the event which ended in the early hours of Sunday (African time).

Felicitè is about the story of a woman who sings in a bar in Kinshasa. This woman had a child who died at age 14 in a motorcycle accident. She then goes on a frenzy search through the streets of Kinshasa, a world of music and dreams.

The night of award ended with Shina Peters’ performance. Shina Peters is a Nigerian Juju musician.

Lagos State award for best Nigerian film: ’76 (Nigeria)

Best young/promising actor: Medina Molanga (Queen of Katwe)

Tony Elumelu award for best comedy: 3 Wise Men (Nigeria)

Best actress in a supporting role: Angelique Kidjo (CEO: Nigeria)

Best actor in a supporting role: Papi Mpaka (Felicitè: Senegal)

AMAA lifetime achievement award: Nkem Owoh (Nigeria)

Best actress in a leading role: Vero Tshanda (Felicitè: Senegal)

Best actor in a leading role: Jahwar Soudani (The Last of Us: Tunisia)

Best first feature film by a director: Daouda Coulibaly (Wulu: Mali)
