Talented South African opera singer Pretty Yende has walked away with an Echo Klassik gong in Germany, adding to her international fame. She got the Newcomer of the Year prize last week ahead of the handover ceremony which will hold in October at Hamburg’s Elbphilharmonie. Pretty described the landmark as “a dream come true” for her.

Pretty said:

This is truly a dream come true for me, I am beyond honoured to receive the Newcomer of the Year Award from Echo Klassik. I am thrilled that my debut album has afforded me the thrilling luxury to be recognized by Echo Klassik.

Echo Klassik, which takes place every year at a flashy gala evemt,  is a world-famous classical music awards which recognizes and honours some of the biggest names in the genre.
