As people were already posting Rest In Peace messages for the actress on social media, the family confirmed the sad news on Monday morning. The actress reportedly died after complications from a fall in July.

“It’s true I just got off the phone with her sister Rose‚ who confirmed that she passed away. Mary was admitted into high care on 10 July after injuring herself after she fell”, her casting manager‚ Carlynn de Waal-Smit said to TshisaLIVE.

While extending his condolences to her family, Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa who seems to be close to the late actress took to Twitter and said:

I’d like to extend my heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of veteran Actress and my dear friend Mary Makgatho‚ who has sadly passed on

Makgatho was famous for her appearances in “Yizo Yizo”‚ “Generations”‚ “Rhythm City” and e.tv’s “eKasi: Our Stories”.
